Why Smoothie Bowls are the cheat Code
When was the last time you made a smoothie bowl? I made one last night, after dinner, around 6pm. And while I was eating it, I realized something-- this is better than ice cream! Before you stop reading and disagree, hear me out. I made my smoothing bowl with frozen banana, avocado, strawberries, vanilla protein powder, dates, almond butter, and a splash of oat milk. I then sprinkled dark chocolate shavings, a handful of chopped nuts, and some flax granola. It was creamy, flavorful, and I didnt want it to end. Besides being a party in my mouth, it didn't upset my stomach. All of the ingredients are low glycemic index, meaning they won't contribute to insulin resistance or spike blood sugar. The ingredients are also rich in nutrients and will keep me full. Ice cream on the other hand is a completely opposing experience. Though while I'm eating it, I'm happy! The aftermath is quite the contrary. The symptoms go a little like this: bloating, fatigue and headache. With that said, I can't say I will never eat traditional dairy ice cream again, but for now smoothie bowls are distancing me more and more towards not having to eat them.
