Women in Fashion: Q + A with Nina Yun of GIYEA
Meet Nina Yun. Nina launched GIYEA, a luxury women’s ready-to-wear fashion label back in February of 2020, pursuing her life long dream of being a fashion designer. She named the brand after her Korean name Giyea, which means “master of artistry. We sat down with Nina and asked her a few questions about how she approaches business & fashion.
Q: Who is a female leader in your industry you look up to?
“Victoria Beckham. I love everything about her as a woman and a fashion brand. I definitely had her in mind as inspiration when I first created Giyea.”
Q: Your daily morning mantra?
“I actually don’t really have a morning mantra, rather a nighttime mantra. Before I go to sleep, I simply thank God for allowing me to do what I love to do for a living. This daily check-in is a reminder to myself to use my blessings wisely and continue to work hard.”
Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
“Find a mentor and network amongst people in your industry. I still am working on this actually. This is probably the hardest thing for me, however I know there is something to it because every blog, article, book that I read about a successful person, they always seem to give that same advice. So, I haven’t found a mentor yet, however I am doing better with networking. In fact LNQ is actually one of my main networks and it has helped me immensely in so many ways.”
